Fire Protection Information & Legislation

Fire protection information can be found here. We can say that Fire protection is the design and application of systems services plans to avoid the unwanted effects of fires.

Buildings must be design and constructed in accordance with the version of the building code that is in effect (in Cyprus we have the 2017 code) .

Once construction is complete, a building must be checked and maintained in accordance with the European and local standards.

Passive Fire Protection
Passive fire protection is an integral component of the three components of structural fire protection and fire safety in a building. PFP attempts to contain fires or slow the spread, for example through use of fire-resistant walls, floors, and doors. Once a fire has started, flames may escape through openings and spread to the storey above. Fire protection measures are consequently compulsory for multi-storey buildings. With EPS insulation, a non-combustible mineral wool strip prevents flames from spreading over the entire facade.
